May Garden Update
Despite being May 18th as of this writing, we're still experiencing below-average temps. This morning it was in the mid-30s and the highs didn't make it out of the 50's. This isn't a bad thing as we've had a lot of things to plant and transplant, so perhaps we're getting some extra time to get it done.
On Saturday, May 5th we went to the annual plant sale to benefit the Cedar Valley Nature Center. The below photo on the right was where I stood in the checkout line. It was long, but the girls were extremely patient.

Isabel found some pine cones!

Zoe walked all over the place.

Here are a couple pics of our lilacs around May 14th when they
were in full bloom. Hard to believe they were so tiny just 3 years ago!

Here's the backyard on Saturday, May 18th. Ann and our
neighbor went to the annual plant sale at the Brucemore
Mansion. Also below is our raised bed's progress.

Mark rented another gas-powered sod cutter again this year,
but like last year he had trouble. Last year the machine kept having the
drive belts loosen. This year the clutch went out after two passes.
Mark rented a really awesome Mantis tiller on Saturday and tilled a couple of
new herb/hosta/perennial garden areas. He'll have to finish the garden on
the below left with a manual sod cutter. Below right is where the new
hosta garden will be located.

More blooming bushes!
