Our Gardens - May 12, 2001

On Thursday, May 10th, we got whacked with golf ball sized hail when a storm came through that evening.  It tore out some leaves and messed up some of the hostas on the north side of the house, but didn't really ruin anything.

Our back yard will be fenced off next week.  It'll take place directly in front of the bushes on the right.  Chain-link in the back.  Inbetween the house and garage, where our grill and picnic table are, we're going with a 6' cedar privacy with gate.  We'll also have a little bit of 6' cedar privacy and another gate put along the north side of the house by the hosta garden.

Ann bought a "Mary" statue last week for Uncle Ed's Garden (left).  Ferns transplanted last year (right) have done very well in the far back corner of the yard.  Hard to believe 3 years ago it just pooled water to breed mosquitos.  We've done a lot of work back there, and there's much to be done still.
