Our Gardens - April 8, 2001

Surprise, surprise - the carrots wintered just fine, despite the awfully harsh winter.  Piled lots of mulch on top of where they were in the garden.  Time for some carrot soup?

In preparation for our new fencing, I had to remove some of our lamb's ear (below left).  I also removed some tanzy, daisies, and what I think may be Irish Grass from the other plot (below right).

The above plants were all transplanted on the east end of our garage.  I moved the compost bin over a bit, so the transplants are sitting in some rich dirt.

Our big old sedum that we got years ago in Kansas City on the left - a couple more weeks and I'll be splitting that up.

On the right is our budding lilacs.

The veggie garden (left) has radishes, spinach, scallions, and lettuce seeded.

The rose garden (right) also has tulip bulbs coming up throughout.  Our poor cement bird bath didn't make it through the winter.  It disintegrated and fell into a million pieces.  We haven't cleaned them all up yet, but we will.
